Always being in a democratic country with freedom of speech, freedom of movement etc etc; I used to wonder if a region is willing to accept a person from other region, why the government/military tries to restrict a person who wants to get out of a country.
I am talking about the Berlin Wall. I didn't understand why East Germany wants to restrict its people if they want to move to West Germany. To me its one less person that East Germany has to take care by providing basic needs. But of course I forgot about the whole concept of no freedom of speech, no freedom of movement etc which being in democratic country people like us take it for granted.

No country will accept that it won't be able to provide the basic needs for its people, even if it is true. Even in these hitech days, man power is the ultimate power and why do you want to loose it and give other region/country an advantage over you?
ReplyDeleteBTW, you are correct about the way that we underappreciate our freedom of speech and freedom of movement and abusing at the every opportunity that we get. Look at so called Forth estate (Print and TV media) in our democratic country..Sometimes you wish, its better not to have the freedom of speech and freedom of expression.........
